Squamish Adventure Center
In working toward a LEED standard with this building project, the numerous eco-friendly features of the BRODA® line of products created the initial interest for the specification. But the hard-working BC-formulated technology of BRODA® solved several coating issues as well as respecting the construction timing.
To begin with, the timbers, locally milled, were ‘green’ (unseasoned wood). Furthermore, the Squamish Adventure Centre would have to be painted in January and February – notoriously wet months in a famously damp climate.
While this moisture would be a challenge for solvent-based coatings, it is actually an advantage when working with the water-borne formulations of the BRODA® line of products.
Maelstrom Restoration and Painting, an affiliate of CBR Products, recommended a system using BRODA® PRO-TEK-TOR DR 125, a water-borne natural oil wood stain, with a top coat of BRODA® CLARITY Wood Stone Clear, a 100% Acrylic. Interior trim work was stained with same colour as the timbers and top coated with BRODA® PRO-THANE Ultra Rich Cabinet Trim.
The result is a solid combination of high performance and eco-friendly benefits. A natural fit for an environment that demands both.
