Can’t get your bees to buzz or your buckwheat to buck? The Homesteader’s Emporium is your store.

Our Strathcona neighbourhood in East Vancouver is full of interesting people and businesses. But this has to be one of the most original.

When Rick Havlak decided he wanted to make his own cheese, jam and roast coffee, he also made his fair share of greenhorn mistakes. So he founded the Homesteader’s Emporium, offering supplies, equipment and know-how to help give other urban do-it-yourselfers a leg up.

Whether you’re interested in making bread, cheese, or preserves, roasting coffee beans, cultivating mushrooms, sustainable urban gardening, weaving, soap- or candle-making, keeping backyard chickens, or beekeeping, The Homesteader’s Emporium has the goods to get you on your way.

Now that’s Protecting It All!

For more information, call the store at 604.568.7675, stop by 649 East Hastings, or go to www.homesteadersemporium.ca

The Homesteader’s Emporium is open Tuesday – Friday, 11am – 6pm; Saturday, 10am – 6pm; Sunday, 11am – 5pm; closed Mondays.
