When a wood finish fails, don’t give up.

Wood Deck

It can happen to the most diligent tradesperson or homeowner. The wood finish chosen (often by someone else entirely) fails and the project starts to look bad.

This can be a case of film-forming coatings that do not let the wood breathe, improper application or the wrong product chosen for the wood type or exposure.

Whatever the case, there’s nothing for it but to refinish.

We have been able to help many customers get back to happy with their coatings. On one recent job, we helped refinish a yellow cedar home with a custom colour formula of our BRODA ® PRO-TEK-TOR Siding Log Timber Natural Oil Wood Stain. The customer called us a year later to say they were very happy with the coating’s performance, and to check on any maintenance work that would be required.

We recommended a simple washing and perhaps a light application of clear BRODA ® PRO-TEK-TOR to keep it looking perfect.

So if you end up with a failed coating, give us a call. There will be some work involved, but in the long run, you’ll be happier.
